No. 8 Tennessee returned home on Saturday night and defeated SEC rival Florida in a 23-17 overtime contest from Neyland Stadium.
Florida struck with the first 10 points of the game but Tennessee would rally for a 17-0 run at the end of the third and start of the fourth quarter. Tennessee took a seven-point lead into the game’s closing minutes but it was Florida QB DJ Lagway who tied up the game with a touchdown pass with just 29 seconds left in the game.
Florida couldn’t make its kick in overtime, though, setting up Dylan Sampson to punch in the one-yard touchdown on Tennessee’s first offensive drive for the walkoff win in OT.
Josh Heupel spoke to the media for just over 12 minutes on Saturday night after the win as he discussed Dylan Sampson’s performance, his assessment of the passing game, key in-game moments and plays, clock management, and much more.
Tennessee also had two groups of players speak to the media after the game. In one group was QB Nico Iamaleava, DL James Pearce, and CB Jermod McCoy while the other group featured RB Dylan Sampson, LB Arion Carter, and DL Bryson Eason.
