Tennessee’s basketball season is right around the corner as the team held their local media day on Thursday afternoon in the Food City Center.
Excitement is high off of last season’s run to the Elite Eight but there’s been a lot of change between then and now. Tennessee saw a lot of departures through graduation and the transfer portal including Dalton Knecht, Josiah-Jordan James, Santiago Vescovi, Jonas Aidoo, and Tobe Awaka. The Vols made sure to hit the portal themselves, though. Tennessee brought in four talented players to fill out the roster including Igor Milicic Jr., Felix Okpara, Chaz Lanier, and Darlinstone Dubar, plus the addition of incoming freshman guard Bishop Boswell.
Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes kicked off media day with a 17-minute press conference as he spoke about the Vols’ new additions to the team, preseason storylines, Zakai Zeigler and Jahmai Mashack’s roles, and much more.
Tennessee then sent all of their players and coaches to the floor for walk-around interviews with the media. RTI caught up with six players and three coaches on Thursday to preview the season and the surrounding storylines.
