Two familiar faces will be captains for Arkansas Football against Tennessee this weekend in Fayetteville, AR.

According to Arkansas Football on Instagram, the Razorbacks’ captains will include former Tennessee cornerback Doneiko Slaughter and former Vol offensive lineman Addison Nichols. Both players played at Tennessee during the 2022 and 2023 seasons but transferred to Arkansas before the Citrus Bowl last December.

Arkansas’s other two captains include Arkansas defensive back Anthony Switzer and placekicker Kyle Ramsey.

Slaughter played at Tennessee for four years before hitting the transfer portal and was a versatile piece for the Vols’ secondary as a player who could rotate through positions and fill areas of need. The Georgia native was one of several upperclassmen Tennessee defensive backs to enter the portal following the 2023 season.

Slaughter is a starting safety with Arkansas and has started all five of the Razorbacks’ games this season, tallying 25 tackles, one sack, three pass breakups, and one interception.

Nichols was one of Josh Heupel’s first major commitments at Tennessee as a four-star prospect in the 2022 class. The Georgia native took a redshirt year during his first season but recorded 11 appearances as a special teams player and a backup offensive lineman during the 2023 season.

While Nichols has battled a bit of injury this season, he has been tagged as the Razorbacks’ starting center for this season and will be in the middle of the Arkansas offensive line on Saturday against the Vols’ daunting defensive front.

If anyone knows the potential that Tennessee’s defensive line had going into the 2024 season, Nichols certainly does from his time competing on the Vols’ practice field in 2023.

Tennessee has not announced their captains for Saturday’s SEC clash but did reveal their uniforms on Thursday morning. The Vols will be wearing white helmets, white jerseys, and orange pants for the road game against the Hogs.

Arkansas will host No. 4 Tennessee at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night in Razorback Stadium.
