Jason Witten has one of the most successful professional careers of any Tennessee football player in the 21st century. After playing 17 years including 16 with the Dallas Cowboys, Witten is now embarking on a successful high school football coaching career at Liberty Christian in Argyle, Texas.
One of the top players on the Warriors is Jason’s son Cooper Witten. Cooper is impressing on the football field enough that Josh Heupel and Tennessee football offered him a scholarship on Saturday afternoon.

Witten is just a sophomore in high school and a member of the 2027 recruiting cycle. While his dad was a standout tight end, Cooper is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound safety. 247sports just released its inaugural rankings for the 2027 recruiting class earlier this month and Witten came in as a four-star recruit and the No. 25 player in the entire cycle.

He also ranked as the No. 2 safety and the No. 4 player in the state of Texas in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
Liberty Christian opens up its 2024 season on this Friday night when they go on the road to face Fort Bend Christian Academy. The Warriors went 14-0 and won the state championship a season ago.
Jason Witten is an Elizabethton, Tennessee native who played at Tennessee from 2000-02. In his three seasons at Tennessee, Witten caught 74 passes for 922 yards and eight touchdowns. Witten’s best season came in 2002 when he caught 39 passes for 493 yards and five touchdowns.
The Cowboys selected Witten in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft and he went on to have a legendary professional career where he twice earned NFL All-Pro honors and made 11 Pro Bowls. Even as a strong blocking tight end, Witten turned in three seasons with 1,000 yards.
