Five-Star Tennessee Offensive Line Target Announcing College Commitment On Monday

Five-star offensive tackle Josh Petty is announcing his college commitment on Monday. Petty is deciding between a top group that includes Florida State, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Stanford and Tennessee.

Petty is a Roswell, Georgia native and hometown Georgia Tech appears to be the favorite to land the five-star offensive lineman. All four 247sports crystal ball predictions have Petty landing at Georgia Tech while the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Georgia Tech a 90.9% chance of landing the prospect.

Petty ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 29 player in the country according to the On3 industry rankings. The Roswell, Georgia native as the No. 2 interior offensive lineman and the No. 7 player in the state of Georgia in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

247sports is higher on Petty than any other recruiting site, ranking him as a five-star recruit, the No. 14 player and the No. 2 offensive tackle in the country.

Petty has taken four total visits to Tennessee though only a pair of them have come in the last year. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound offensive lineman visited Tennessee for the Georgia game last fall and then took an official visit to Knoxville back in June.

In the past year, Petty has taken three total visits to Georgia Tech, two visits to both Florida State and Ohio State as well as a singular official visit to Stanford.

The Yellow Jackets have some momentum on the recruiting trail under second-year head coach Brent Key. Georgia Tech currently boasts the No. 27 class nationally. If Key can land the No. 27 class, it would be Georgia Tech’s best since 2007.

Tennessee football’s 2025 recruiting class currently contains 21 commitments including from three offensive linemen. Between four-stars Douglas Utu and Nic Moore as well as three-star Antoni Kade Ogumoro, the Vols have already put together a strong offensive line class. The Vols are also one of the top contenders for five-star offensive tackle David Sanders who is announcing his college commitment next week.

Tennessee’s 21-commit recruit class currently ranks No. 7 nationally and No. 6 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
