Christian Moore Remains Unconscious, Hits Walk Off Home Run In Fifth Professional Game

Mama, there goes that man again.

It’s hard to envision starting a professional career in a better way than former Tennessee star Christian Moore has and the storybook first professional week continued on Wednesday night when he hit a ninth inning walk-off home run for the Rocket City Trash Pandas against the Birmingham Barons.

“Uhhh, he’s good,’ Trash Pandas announcer Josh Caray accurately said about Moore during his call of the walk off home run.

The walk-off home run was just a part of an incredible performance for Moore on Wednesday night. Hitting in the two-spot, Moore hit four-of-five with two home runs and three RBIs.

Now in five professional games— two with High-A Inland Empire and three with Double-A Rocket City— Moore is hitting 12-of-24 (.500) with four home runs, two doubles and 10 RBIs. It’s just an incredible start for the former Tennessee star who was one of the top hitters in college baseball last season while helping lead the Vols to the National Championship.

Moore turned in the best single season at the plate in Tennessee history during the Vols’ 2024 National Championship season. Hitting in the leadoff spot, Moore hitt .375 with 34 home runs, 55 extra-base hits and 74 RBIs.

Tennessee’s previous single season home run record was 24 and Moore way out paced it in his junior season. Moore’s 61 home runs over the course of his three-year college career make him the Vols’ career home run record holder.

The Angels selected Moore with the eighth pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, making the star infielder the highest drafted Volunteer of Tony Vitello’s tenure.
