Ole Miss transfer Andrew Fischer committed to Tennessee baseball Tuesday night on his Instagram after taking a visit to Knoxville early this week.
A left-handed hitting slugger, Fischer is one of the top hitters in the transfer portal this offseason. He hit .285 with 20 home runs and 57 RBIs in his sophomore season, leading the Rebels both in long balls and runs batted in.
Fischer added two triples and 10 doubles for a .643 slugging percentage in his sophomore season. He posted a 21% strikeout rate and a 14% walk rate in his lone year with the Rebels.
A 6-foot-1, 205-pound third baseman, Fischer spent just one season at Ole Miss after playing his freshman season at Duke. In his debut collegiate season at Duke, Fischer hit .289 with 11 home runs, 13 doubles and 33 RBIs.

With Fischer in fold, Tennessee baseball has a very crowded infield entering next season. The Vols are losing Blake Burke, Billy Amick and Christian Moore to professional baseball but return Dean Curley, Dalton Bargo and Ariel Antigua and landed highly touted Louisville middle infielder Gavin Kilen last week.
There will be an abundance of competition in Tennessee’s infield in fall practice to figure out who fits best where. Fischer’s strength is hit bat and could also end up starting at designated hitter depending on how everything unfolds this offseason.
Tennessee lost seven players to the transfer portal this offseason including infielders Zane Denton, Bradke Lohry and Camden Bates, utility bat Robin Villeneuve and pitchers Derek Schaefer, Wyatt Evans and Matthew Dallas.
Fischer becomes the Vols’ fourth transfer portal addition this offseason alongside Killen, Kennesaw State right-handed pitcher Tanner Franklin and Niagara first baseman Eric Rataczak.
