For the first time in program history, the Tennessee Volunteers stand atop the college baseball mountaintop as the College World Series champions. The Vols claimed the championship with a 6-5 victory over Texas A&M in Game 3 on Monday night in Omaha.
Tennessee is now the first overall No. 1 seed to win the College World Series since Miami did so in 1999. The win also caps off a season in which Tennessee co-won the SEC regular season and won the SEC Tournament.
Tennessee was in the Top 10 trends on X for the entirety of their College World Series championship game with more than 65,000 tweets by midnight. The Vols’ fanbase stormed social media to express their excitement.
