While longtime history might not be on Tennessee’s side as the No. 1 overall seed, recent in-season history against the remaining teams in the College World Series remains an open and optimistic line for Vol fans eager to see a National Championship by the end of the weekend.

As Driving The Line’s Allan Bell pointed out on X on Monday, Tennessee has played every team left in the CWS and has at least one victory against each of them. More than that, though, Tennessee has a combined 7-2 record against the remaining teams in the tournament.

Only Virginia and NC State have been eliminated from the tournament before Tuesday morning, leaving a handful of SEC teams and a couple of ACC teams left in the race: Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida State, Kentucky, Texas A&M, and Florida.

Tennessee’s 2024 Record Versus Remaining CWS Teams:

North Carolina: 1-0 (CWS Victory)
Florida State: 1-0 (CWS Victory)
Kentucky: 2-1 (Regular Season Series Win in Lexington)
Texas A&M: 1-0 (SEC Tournament)
Florida: 2-1 (Regular Season Series Win in Gainesville)

Total: 7-2

North Carolina and Florida State will square off in an elimination game on Tuesday afternoon, as will Kentucky and Florida on Tuesday night. The winners of each game will go on to face Tennessee and Texas A&M respectively as the final four teams left standing. The Vols and Aggies are one win away from the College World Series finals but could be pushed to a second game if either loses their first game in the semifinals on Wednesday.
