Tennessee quarterback commit George MacIntyre made the quick trip over to Rocky Top for the Vols’ big recruiting weekend.
MacIntyre, a five-star quarterback from Nashville’s Brentwood Academy (Brentwood, TN), committed to the Vols in late January and has been a statement piece of the class ever since. MacIntyre is Tennessee’s first and only five-star commit in the class so far, but a player of his caliber is always likely to attract high-end talent.
That’s why one of MacIntyre’s pictures from the recruiting weekend is encouraging for Tennessee fans.
MacIntyre posted a picture in full uniform with Tennessee target David Sanders Jr., who currently ranks as the top offensive tackle in the entire class. This wasn’t the first meeting between the two future collegiate stars, but it’s always a sign of encouragement to see potential teammates together on a visit.
“Never felt more like home,” MacIntyre captioned the post on X.
Sanders is the second-rated player in the 2025 class and the top offensive tackle according to 247 Sports’ rankings. The Charlotte, NC, native has been high on Tennessee, putting the Vols in his Top Six in early March before taking two visits to Rocky Top including the trip this past weekend.
On June 9, On3 Sports Vice President and recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong gave an optimistic report about Tennessee’s chances to land Sanders.
“Tennessee, Ohio State, and Georgia are the three programs that I think are in the best shape right now to land David Sanders,” Wiltfong said. “That doesn’t mean I’m sleeping on Clemson, but I think Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee – and so Tennessee, they’ve already gotten him on campus three times this calendar year. Ohio State gets the last official visit, that will be his third visit to Ohio State this calendar year. So there’s still a lot of things happening in this recruitment.”
Sanders was one of several top offensive recruits that MacIntyre had a chance to spend time with this weekend, including five-star receivers Caleb Cunningham and Jamie Ffrench and four-star tight end Dasaahn Brame.
MacIntyre’s other picture showed him holding Tennessee’s 1998 National Championship trophy in one hand and Peyton Manning’s 1997 Davey O’Brien trophy in the other.
MacIntyre ranks as Tennessee’s 24th-highest all-time commit according to 247 Sports’ services and was a landmark pickup from the Volunteer State this recruiting cycle. Since Josh Heupel and his staff took over at Tennessee prior to the 2021 season, the message has always prioritized in-state recruiting and to lock down the borders. The 6-foot-5.5 quarterback also comes in as the No. 30 prospect overall, the No. 5 quarterback in the class, and the No. 1 player from the state of Tennessee.
