Former Tennessee linebacker Aaron Willis is back in the transfer portal after spending two seasons at Houston, 247sports’ Matt Zenitz first reported earlier this week.
Willis is a former four-star recruit who committed to play for Jeremy Pruitt and his staff in 2020 before staying committed and enrolling at Tennessee once Josh Heupel and his staff took over in Knoxville.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker spent one season in Knoxville where he recorded one tackle on special teams but redshirted his inaugural collegiate season. Willis entered the transfer portal after his lone season in Knoxville before eventually landing at Houston.

Willis failed to earn a big role in his two seasons with the Houston program. The Baltimore native totaled three tackles and one forced fumble in the 2022 season before totaling two tackles during the 2023 season.
The former blue-chip recruit entered the transfer portal after Houston fired head coach Dana Holgorsen. Holgorsen spent four years atop the Cougars’ program where they posted a 27-20 record and a 20-7 record in his final two seasons. Houston hired Tulane coach Willie Fritz to replace Holgorsen.
Willis is now looking for a new football home and somewhere he can find more consistent playing time. The former Tennessee linebacker has two-year of eligibility remaining.
