Tennessee named Allen Greene its new Senior Deputy Athletic Director on Thursday morning, poaching the well regarded administrator from Ole Miss’ athletic department.
“One of the key objectives from our strategic plan ‘Rise Glorious”‘was to attract goal-driven and intensely competitive teammates to strengthen our family-oriented, innovative and fearless culture and Allen is a tremendous addition to our leadership team,” Tennessee Director of Athletics Danny White said in a statement. “Allen’s one of the most dynamic and engaging leaders I’ve been fortunate to work alongside, and I am thrilled to be able to add one of the stars of our profession and his wonderful family to Rocky Top.”
Before his year at Ole Miss, Green spent five years as Auburn’s athletic director where Tiger teams won eight SEC championships and totaled 44 top 25 finishes across all sports.

Tennessee announced the hiring of Allen just days after KnoxNews reported that Deputy AD Monica Lebron is leaving the athletic department. Lebron served as the men’s basketball lead administrator though Greene’s role appears more expansive than Lebron’s.
“I’m very appreciative for this opportunity to once again be a teammate with Danny and join the talented executive team he has assembled at Tennessee,” Greene said in a statement. “The Tennessee brand is second to none and I am looking forward to help propel UT athletics in this modern era of our industry. My family and I can’t wait to get started on Rocky Top.”
Greene’s five years at Auburn were most memorable for the hiring and tenure of football coach Brian Harsin. The then-Auburn athletic director was reportedly at odds with Tiger boosters with Greene wanting and supporting Harsin while Auburn donors wanted a different coach.
After Greene mutually parted ways with Auburn, Tennessee Director of Athletics Danny White tweeted support for Greene while throwing shade at the chaos surrounding Auburn.
Congratulations @AGreeneIV for getting the heck out of a crazy situation for greener pastures! I admire how you managed that chaos with class & integrity. Look forward to seeing your next chapter!

Those “greener pastures” proved to be Knoxville after a year in Oxford. Greene joins an athletic department with consistent success across all sports including back-to-back SEC All-Sports title.
Former Auburn coach Harsin also shared words of support for Greene Thursday after Tennessee announced the move.
