Tennessee vs. UConn Preview

Oddsmakers have set Tennessee as the overwhelming favorite for this lopsided matchup. The 35-point spread is one of the biggest in CFB Week 10. Here’s a look at each team’s performance so far and our pick for the best bet for Tennessee vs. UConn.

Tennessee gets a break from tough SEC schedule

The Vols are coming off a 33-27 win against Kentucky on the road and should have this next matchup in the bag. They can use the confidence booster before they head into three conference matchups to close out the season: playing No. 12 Missouri on Nov. 11 and No. 2 Georgia on Nov. 18. (Their final game is an easier matchup against Vanderbilt).

The downside of this “easy win” is that it won’t help their rankings much. Against Kentucky, Tennessee gained 481 yards of total offense but also allowed Kentucky to gain 444 yards of total offense.

QB Joe Milton passed for 228 yards and one touchdown and was also helped by Jaylen Wright, who rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown. They need to take this matchup as a chance to polish up their game for their SEC rivalries in the coming weeks.

UConn aiming for second win

UConn has just one win to its name (against Rice) and likely isn’t expecting much on the road against Tennessee. The Huskies lost their last matchup, 21-14 to the Boston College Eagles and were held to 222 yards of total offense.

UConn’s starting QB, Ta’Quan Roberson, has 1,275 passing yards this season with eight touchdowns and three interceptions. Their leading RB, Victor Rosa, has 405 yards and two touchdowns, and their leading receiver, Cameron Ross, has 354 yards and one TD.

Tennessee vs. UConn Prediction

We’re going with Tennessee to cover the spread, even though it’s a big one. The Vols are 3-1 ATS at home this season, and they’re just the far superior team, taking on the Huskies on Volunteer soil. UConn is 4-4 against the spread.
