Week 8 of the NFL season has officially concluded.
Thirty former Vols are on rosters this NFL season, representing 20 different teams. Twenty saw action in Week 7.

S Micah Abernathy – Atlanta Falcons
On the practice squad.
DE Derek Barnett – Philadelphia Eagles
Did not record a stat as a reserve defensive end in Philadelphia’s 38-31 win over the Commanders. Barnett’s snap share continues to decline, as he played just 10 percent of defensive snaps and 21 special teams snaps. That’s 13 total snaps.
DT Matthew Butler – Las Vegas Raiders
On the practice squad.
WR Marquez Callaway – Las Vegas Raiders
On the practice squad.
LS Morgan Cox – Tennessee Titans
Snapped for eight punts and four successful extra-point attempts in Tennessee’s 28-23 win over the Falcons.
QB Joshua Dobbs – Arizona Cardinals
Struggled in Arizona’s 31-24 loss to Baltimore in Glendale. Dobbs completed 25 of 37 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns while also throwing two interceptions.
It was the last game Dobbs will start as a Cardinal, as the VFL QB was traded to Minnesota on Tuesday ahead of the 4 p.m. ET deadline. With the Vikings losing Kirk Cousins to a torn Achilles, Dobbs will start for the Vikings in hopes of leading them to a playoff run.
TE/FB Princeton Fant – Dallas Cowboys
On the practice squad.
QB Hendon Hooker – Detroit Lions
Inactive as he remains on the NFI list still rehabbing his ACL injury.
WR Jalin Hyatt – New York Giants
Was not targeted in the Giants’ 13-10 loss to the Jets, but not many Giants passcatchers were. With quarterback Tyrod Taylor getting injured, third-stringer Tommy DeVito came in and struggled significantly. The Giants completed just six passes for seven total yards in the loss.
Hyatt should have more opportunities moving forward, as starter Daniel Jones is set to return from injury next week against the Raiders.
S Theo Jackson – Minnesota Vikings
Recorded two tackles, one solo, and played 16 percent of defensive snaps and 61 percent of special teams snaps in Minnesota’s 24-10 win over Green Bay.
WR Jauan Jennings – San Francisco 49ers
Started but was not targeted in the 49ers’ 31-17 loss to the Bengals. Jennings played 85 percent of offensive snaps (a season-high).
LB Alexander Johnson – Miami Dolphins
On the practice squad.
FB Jakob Johnson – Las Vegas Raiders
Recorded one special teams tackle in the Raiders’ 26-14 loss to the Lions in Detroit on Monday Night Football. Johnson played 11 percent of offensive snaps and 36 percent of special teams snaps before getting injured in the game and not returning with a concussion.
WR/PR Velus Jones Jr. – Chicago Bears
Caught one of two targets for four yards in the Bears’ 30-13 loss to the Chargers on Sunday Night Football. Jones Jr. also returned one kick for 24 yards.
Jones played five percent of offensive snaps and 68 percent of special teams snaps. He also dropped what would’ve been a long touchdown.

RB Alvin Kamara – New Orleans Saints
Kamara continued his dominant 2023 campaign with over 100 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in the Saints’ 38-27 win over the Colts. Kamara totaled 59 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries and 51 yards and a touchdown on four catches.
Kamara played 58 percent of offensive snaps.

OL Cade Mays – Carolina Panthers
Went back to a reserve role for the Panthers coming out of the bye. Mays did not play a single offensive snap but played 25 percent of special teams snaps in Carolina’s 15-13 win over the Texans, their first of the season.
CB Emmanuel Moseley – Detroit Lions
OUT FOR THE SEASON
WR Joshua Palmer – Los Angeles Chargers
Caught three of four targets for 24 yards in the Chargers’ 30-13 win over Chicago on SNF. Palmer was dealing with a knee injury entering the contest and was in-and-out of the game for Los Angeles, which most likely contributed to his disappointing stat line.
Palmer played 68 percent of offensive snaps.
RB Cordarrelle Patterson – Atlanta Falcons
Recorded two carries for seven yards and returned one kick for 29 yards in Atlanta’s five-point loss to Tennessee. Patterson played 18 percent of offensive snaps and 14 percent of special teams snaps in the loss.
DE Kyle Phillips – New Orleans Saints
On the practice squad.
LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin – Detroit Lions
Did not record a stat but played 100 percent of special teams snaps as the Lions’ special teams captain in Detroit’s blowout 12-point win over the Raiders on Monday Night Football.
OG Trey Smith – Kansas City Chiefs
Played 100 percent of offensive snaps at starting right guard and 14 percent of special teams snaps in the Chiefs’ 24-9 loss to the Broncos.
CB Cameron Sutton – Detroit Lions
Tallied one solo tackle and played every defensive snap in the Lions’ win over the Raiders on MNF. Sutton was great in coverage all night up against Las Vegas’ combination of Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers, as the duo combined for two catches. Granted, a lot of that was also due to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s struggles.
CB Alontae Taylor – New Orleans Saints
Recorded three tackles, two solo, and played 94 percent of defensive snaps as a starting cornerback in the Saints’ 11-point win over the Colts on the road. Taylor also played 18 percent of special teams snaps.
DE Darrell Taylor – Seattle Seahawks
Started his second game of the season in Seattle’s 24-20 win over the Browns. Taylor recorded three tackles, two solo, one TFL, one sack and one QB hit in the win while playing 59 percent of defensive snaps and 15 percent of special teams snaps.
It was Taylor’s best game of the season.
WR Cedric Tillman – Cleveland Browns
Was inactive in the Browns’ loss to the Seahawks.
DL Shy Tuttle – Carolina Panthers
Totaled two tackles and played 52 percent of defensive snaps and 12 percent of special teams snaps in Carolina’s win over Houston. Tuttle has started every game as an interior defensive lineman for the Panthers this season.
OT Darnell Wright – Chicago Bears
Played 100 percent of offensive snaps as the starting right tackle in Chicago’s loss to the Chargers. Did not play a special teams snaps.
DT Kendal Vickers – Buffalo Bills
On the practice squad.
DE Byron Young – Los Angeles Rams
Young recorded two total tackles, all solo, and played 85 percent of defensive snaps as a starting defensive end in the Rams’ blowout loss to the Cowboys on the road.
Young also had a sack called back due to a defensive penalty beyond the line of scrimmage.
