Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel teased a Vols uniform twist for this Saturday’s Homecoming game against UConn in Knoxville.
Heupel spoke to the media on Monday to start the week and began with an acknowledgment of November being Alzheimer’s Awareness Month and touched on the legacy of Pat Summitt. The third-year Tennesssee coach then hinted at the uniforms while revealing a new promotion for Saturday’s game in Neyland Stadium.
“November is also Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, and we have a unique opportunity to honor the legacy of Pat Summitt,” Heupel said on Monday. “We’ll be doing that at the game with our uniform, but we’ll also be doing that with a commemorative cup that everyone can purchase,” Heupel continued on to say. “All of that will go to UT Medical’s research on Alzheimer’s.”
It’s fairly plausible that Tennessee will bring back the Summitt Blue accessories for a second straight season to go with the all-orange look.
The Vols’ football team debuted the Summitt Blue accessories during the UT Martin game last season but has not worn them a second time since. Four Tennessee teams including soccer, volleyball, women’s basketball, and softball all received Summitt Blue uniforms during the 2022-2023 year while the football team received accessories to go with their orange uniforms.
Here’s a look at Tennessee’s Summitt Blue accessories from the 2022 UT Martin game for Homecoming.
