Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel was in attendance for the high school football game between Bradley Central (Cleveland) and Bearden (Knoxville) on Thursday night.
The Volunteers have two class of 2024 commits on the Bradley Central roster with four-star athlete Boo Carter and three-star athlete Marcus Goree Jr.
A play from Carter during Thursday’s game made the rounds on social media and has gathered a considerable amount of attention. While the play was called back for a penalty on the Bradley Central offense, Carter’s speed, athleticism, and knack for finding the endzone are greatly on display in the clip below.
Carter took a screen pass down the left sideline and into the endzone as he dipped and dashed around Bearden defenders.

Carter was making plays for the Bradley Central defense on Thursday, too. Just a few minutes after his touchdown was called back, Carter made a huge play on 1st down to set the Bulldogs far behind the line of scrimmage. Carter’s defensive burst, IQ, and recognition are things that have been highly valued by the Tennessee staff.

But wait – there’s more.
With time winding down in the fourth quarter and Bradley Central up by 25 points, Carter intercepted a ball from the Bearden offense with the Bulldogs on the cusp of the red zone. Bearden needed to get some sort of points on the board and Carter took the opportunity away in a flash.
