Tennessee receiver Bru McCoy was carted off Shield-Watkins field after suffering a gruesome foot/ankle/leg injury in the second quarter of the Vols’ matchup with South Carolina.
McCoy caught a Joe Milton III slant route and cut to his left before being tackled from behind. Trainers immediately came to tend to the injury as his foot was popped out of its socket and facing the wrong direction.
Here is a video of the injury but be warned. The injury is gruesome and hard to watch.

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel didn’t have any firm updates on McCoy after the game but did briefly discuss the injury.
“Hate what happened to Bru,” Heupel said. “We’ll have a more of an update tomorrow or on Monday I’m sure, but everybody saw it. (It) was (a) lower body injury that didn’t look good.
“So there’s nobody better than him. Great teammate, great leader, tough as they come. Works extremely hard to be his best and make sure his teammates do that too. So I hate it for him.”

“Bru said he wanted those guys to go, go play their you know what off and win the ball game too,” Heupel said. “So, I relayed that message, but it shows some maturity from those guys that no matter what’s going on being able to reset and refocus and go compete hard.”
