Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt Betting Preview, Odds, Predictions
The Wildcats handled business to start the season, making quick work of each of their three out-of-conference opponents. Now, they’ll start their gauntlet of a schedule beginning with Vanderbilt later today.
Vanderbilt has a plethora of challenges defensively, but offensively it shows a lot of promise. The Commodores sophomore QB AJ Swann is having an electric start to the season. In four games, he has thrown for 1,101 yards and 11 touchdowns. That includes two big play passes over 50 yards. Vanderbilt, although just .500 this season, presents a threat in all areas of the field in the passing game.
In the one competitive game Kentucky has played this year, it was the aerial attack that caused problems. Vanderbilt’s receiving duo of Jayden McGowan and Will Sheppard Jr. is sure to test the Kentucky secondary, especially Sheppard Jr., who has already hauled in six touchdowns this season.
This game will serve as a benchmark for Kentucky as it is challenging to draw exactly who they are given the competition they have faced. What is clear though is that the offense is still capable of moving the ball and putting up points, which should go a long way against Vanderbilt, who just allowed 36 and 40 points in back-to-back games. On paper, this one is set up to be a barn burner that Kentucky should pull out due to their defense proving to be a notch better than that of the Commodores.
Last year’s game was tightly contested, and this one could be as well, but with higher scoring totals. Look for an explosive one that Kentucky pulls out 37-30.
