Kentucky vs. Akron Betting Preview, Odds, Predictions

Will Levis is gone, but the Wildcats’ offense is still pretty productive, registering 28 points in both games so far. Devin Leary has taken over under center. He hasn’t been lights out, but he does seem to be getting better as the season progresses. In Game 1 against Ball State, he threw for 241 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. In Game 2 against Eastern Kentucky, he threw for 299 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.

Neither of those teams are great opponents, but his production elevated nevertheless. Leary’s performances have also been head and shoulders above that of any Akron QB. Akron has played two QBs in back-to-back weeks. DJ Irons started Week 1, and completed 59% of his passes for 201 yards and an interception. His rocky start continued into Week 2, which had him pulled in favor of Jeff Undercuffler Jr., who didn’t do much better. He threw for 209 yards and three interceptions.

The Wildcats’ schedule will get tough soon, but it won’t start with Akron. Look for Kentucky to take this one handily and move to 3-0 before moving into the meat and potatoes part of their schedule this season.
