Former Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs made his season debut Sunday afternoon at the Cardinals fell to Washington 20-16.

The Cardinals started Dobbs at quarterback just a few weeks after trading for the veteran backup and rolled with him at quarterback while Kyler Murray is sidelined with an injury.

Dobbs completed 21-of-30 passes for 132 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions but fumbled twice in the second half as the Cardinals squandered a six-point fourth quarter lead.

Much like when he started for the Tennessee Titans to end the 2022-23 season, Dobbs is not surrounded by a strong offensive supporting cast. He was sacked three times in the loss.

The former Tennessee quarterback’s best drive came to open the second half when he completed seven-of-nine passes for 49 yards and Arizona made a field goal. It was the Cardinals last points of the game.

Here is one of Dobbs’ best throws of the game, finding Rondale Moore on a wheel route.

While Dobbs started week one for Arizona, the Cardinals didn’t indefinitely name him the starter while Murray works to return from injury. Dobbs beat out Clayton Tune to start the season opener.

Arizona hosts the New York Giants in week two of the NFL season. Time will tell whether Arizona rolls with Dobbs for another week or makes the move to Tune.

  1. Tennessee will come back and rebound but I am so tired of people saying that Milton needs to get on the bench and stop downgrading our team. They’re good guys their kids and they need to have some confidence and people need to be behind them. This is only the second game of the season stop the negativity get behind them and always stay behind them the good the bad and the ugly stop it.
