The same six teams from the SEC that began the year in the AP Top 25 are still on the board entering the second week of the 2023 college football season.
The order remained the same through the first two weeks with the exception of LSU and Tennessee switching spots in the middle following the Tigers’ Top 10 loss and the Vols’ dominant showing over Virginia.
Tennessee, coming off a 49-13 victory, boosted up and into the Top 10 while LSU dropped down nine spots with the 45-24 loss to Florida State.
Georgia remains the top team in the nation while Alabama moved up to the third spot in the rankings. Despite a 67-point victory on Saturday, Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels only moved up two spots but into the Top 20 officially.
Texas A&M, meanwhile, remains at No. 23 following a 42-point win over New Mexico.
The receiving votes section does tell an interesting story, though. Both South Carolina and Florida failed to receive votes in the second week of the season despite receiving some in the preseason. The Gamecocks fell to then-No. 21 North Carolina, 31-17, while Florida lost to then-No. 14 Utah 24-11 on the road.
To keep on eye on things for the future, soon-to-be SEC members Texas and Oklahoma come in at No. 11 and No. 18, respectively. Texas beat Rice 37-10 in the opener week while Oklahoma obliterated Butch Jones’ Arkansas State Red Wolves 73-0.

- No. 1 Georgia (48-7 win over UT Martin)
