Tennessee football landed fringe five-star edge rusher Jordan Ross Monday afternoon. Ross was one of the Vols’ top recruiting targets in the 2024 recruiting cycle and he had some fun trolling a Tennessee rival in the process.
Ross chose the Vols over a top group that included Alabama, Florida and Texas and the Vestavia Hills, Alabama native poked at the Gators in the process.
While announcing his commitment live on the On3 YouTube feed Ross thanked God, his family and coaches before making sharing his college decision.
“For the next three to four years I will be committing to the University of…”
Ross paused mid sentence while putting a Florida hat on.
“This don’t feel right, man,” Ross stated. “We going to Tennessee, man!”
More From RTI: Where Tennessee’s Recruiting Class Ranks After Landing Jordan Ross
Ross is one of the highest rated four-stars in the entire 2024 cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-4, 233-pound prospect is the nation’s No. 4 EDGE rusher and the No. 5 player in the state of Alabama according to the composite rankings.
While Ross is the second highest four-star according to the composite rankings, 247sports in-house rankings have him as a five-star and the No. 12 player nationally.
Ross took June official visits to Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas with his trip to Gainesville being the first. Florida was long viewed as Tennessee’s top competition to land the four-star but faded over the course of the summer.
“It just felt like home,” Ross said of Tennessee following his commitment.
Upon his commitment, Ross became the second highest rated commit in the Vols’ 2024 recruiting class behind only five-star receiver Mike Matthews. Tennessee’s recruiting class now 20 commits including one five-star, 14 four-stars and five three-stars.
