Tennessee’s running back room is in a great position heading into the 2023 season.

The Vols return their top three running backs from the 2022 season with Jaylen Wright, Jabari Small, and Dylan Sampson.

So much is made about Tennessee’s up-tempo, downfield passing offense. And, rightfully so. Tennessee finished last season as the No. 8 team in terms of average passing yards per game. But it’s the Vols’ running game that’s able to set up the passing game in such an effective way.

Tennessee features a stout running back room that has the ability to be a game-changing unit on the Vols’ offense this year. It’s also going to be one of the most important parts of the Vols’ early season gameplan as Joe Milton ramps up into his time as the starter.

Vol running backs Jaylen Wright and Jabari Small spoke with the media on Friday morning in Knoxville to discuss their time in the offseason and what’s new coming up this season.
