WATCH: Five-Star Tennessee Receiver Commit Makes Insane Catch And Run

Football is back. High school football that is.

The 2023 high school season is getting underway this weekend and the highest rated commit in Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting class made his season debut Wednesday night.

Starring for Atlanta’s Parkview High School, Mike Matthews broke out the moves against Kell High School Wednesday night.

In a video shared by On3’s Charles Power, Matthews caught roughly a 10-yard pass and ensued to make over half of the Kell defenders miss on his way to a roughly 50-yard gain. Check out the video here.

Matthews is one of the top high school receivers in the country, ranking as the No. 13 player and No. 4 receiver in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-1 receiver is an electric play maker and ranks as the third best prep player in the state of Georgia.

The five-star recruit committed to Josh Heupel and his staff last month over a top group that included Clemson, Georgia and Southern Cal.

Matthews joins four-star Braylon Staley as one of two receiver commits in the Vols’ 2024 recruiting class. The Vols’ 19 commit recruiting class ranks 11th nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
