The state of Tennessee isn’t historically known for creating highly touted quarterback prospects, but that is changing as more people move to Tennessee and the state’s overall football talent grows.

The latest example was on display this week when 247sports released its initial top 100 player rankings for the 2026 recruiting cycle. We’re years away from these high school sophomores playing college football and the recruiting rankings will change a lot before then. However, right there near the top of the rankings was something that made any football fan in the state of Tennessee pause.

Nashville Christian School quarterback Jared Curtis is the No. 2 player in the country according to 247sports. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect comes in as the No. 2 quarterback in the country as well.

NCS competes in TSSAA Division II-A— the smallest private school classification. The Eagles went 10-3 with Curtis starting at quarterback as a freshman, losing to Friendship Christian in the state championship game.

While it’s still very early in Curtis’ recruitment, he’s been very active taking college visits. The highly touted quarterback has taken four visits to Alabama, two visits to Georgia and one visit to a number of schools including Tennessee, LSU, Clemson, Arkansas, Kentucky and Ole Miss.

If Curtis remains one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, it would mark two straight years the state of Tennessee boasts top quarterback prospects. Brentwood Academy’s George MacIntyre is the No. 2 quarterback (No. 13 player) and Lipscomb Academy’s Deuce Knight is the No. 5 quarterback (No. 78 player) in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

MacIntyre is a Nashville area native while Knight is from Mississippi before transferring to Lipscomb.
