Tennessee returned to the practice field on Monday morning after an off day on Sunday. The Vols donned helmets and shoulder pads as the team continues the ramp-up to full pads and their first scrimmage of the fall slate sometime later in the week.
Quarterbacks threw the deep ball during routes-on-air throughout the beginning portions of Monday’s practice with receivers such as Dont’e Thornton standing out during the drill. On the other side of the field was the defense. The linebackers worked on exploding through the line while the cornerbacks went one-on-one during tip drills.
“Few balls hit the ground in routes on air today,” RTI’s Ryan Schumpert wrote on Monday. “The Vols worked on deep throws for the first time in the open portions of practice so far this camp. Joe Milton III had some slight under throws but nothing bad. His best deep ball of the open portion of practice was ironically a Ramel Keyton drop.”
