Four-star EDGE rusher Jayshawn Ross released a top five including Tennessee football Saturday afternoon. The Vols joined Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Penn State in Ross’ top group.

Ross ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 314 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Kansas City, Missouri native also ranks as the 24th best EDGE rusher in the country and the eighth best player in the state of Missouri.

Tennessee football has had success recruiting Missouri thanks in large part to assistant coach Mike Ekeler. The Vols signed four-star EDGE rusher Chandavian Bradley from St. Louis last season and four-star defensive lineman Kellen Lindstrom from Springfield is committed in the 2024 class.

While Tennessee made Ross’ top five they have yet to get the four-star pass rusher on campus. However, Ross hasn’t been overly active taking visits to this point in his recruitment.

Ross has taken three visits to Oklahoma and two visits to Nebraska (only one since Matt Rhule became head coach). He has also taken a handful of visits to schools that didn’t make his top group.

While Ross is considering a number of schools he hasn’t visited, Tennessee needs to get Ross on campus if they want to land the four-star.

Tennessee football’s 2024 recruiting class currently contains 16 commitments including from three defensive lineman. The Vols’ 16 commit class ranks 11th nationally according to the 247sports composite rankings.
