Tennessee hauled in a big commitment to the 2024 class on Friday afternoon.
Class of 2024 interior offensive lineman William Satterwhite committed to the Vols on Friday to give Tennessee their 16th commitment in the class. Tennessee beat out Clemson as the final two teams for Satterwhite’s commitment.
“I will be a Tennessee Volunteer,” Satterwhite said in the tweet.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound lineman from Archbishop Hoban in Akron, Ohio makes for the highest-rated offensive line commitment in Tennessee’s class. Satterwhite is an elite interior lineman in the class and is rated as a four-star prospect according to all four major publications in 247 Sports, On3 Sports, Rivals, and ESPN.
247 Composite rankings have Satterwhite ranked as a four-star recruit, the No. 191 player in the nation, the No. 11 prospect at his position, and the No. 7 player from the state of Ohio.
After striking out with three-star offensive lineman Ronan O’Connell via a Clemson commitment on Tuesday, the Vols now have a direct response in the recruiting war with the Tigers.
“Dominant high school tackle who projects to a mauling interior O-line role in the long run,” 247Sports National Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks wrote in July. “Broad-bodied with corresponding point-of-attack strength. Quick to engage. Plays with a wide base and good leverage. Cognizant of inside counters and secondary rush and combats with some pop in his hands.”

Many of the players that Tennessee is either targeting or landing are dual sport high school athletes. Satterwhite also doubles as a basketball player for Archbishop Hoban.
The opportunity to compete early into his Tennessee career, the culture around the players and the coaches, the drama-free nature of the program after a quick rebuild, and the appeal of playing in the Southeastern Conference are all reportedly factors in what brings Satterwhite to Rocky Top. Another fortunate move from Tennessee was having the final official visit for the talented player in late June. Tennessee’s coaching staff was able to have the final word in his commitment after strong pushes and visits from Penn State and Clemson in the past few months.
Satterwhite makes for the fourth offensive line commit in Tennessee’s class of 2024. The Vols also have commitments from four-star IOL Max Anderson, three-star IOL Gage Ginther, and three-star OT Jesse Perry. Football newcomer and defensive line prospect Jeremias Heard could also be a potential offensive lineman from this class down the road, too.
Tennessee now has 16 commits to the class of 2024 with Satterwhite coming is as the 5th-highest prospect according to 247. Satterwhite is also Tennessee’s first commit in the class from the state of Ohio.
