Tennessee baseball has picked up their second transfer portal commitment of the day in Missouri’s Dalton Bargo, Bargo announced via Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

Bargo can play many positions defensively, including corner infield and outfield, but primarily played catcher or hit in the DH spot for the Tigers in 2023. Tennessee likes Bargo for his bat and ability to be a utility man.

Bargo is entering his sophomore season after a solid freshman campaign in Columbia.

The Omaha, Nebraska, native started in 45 games and played in 50 last season for Missouri, hitting .279 with 46 hits, 23 RBI and five home runs.

Tony Vitello and Tennessee baseball have been on a recruiting heater in the transfer portal this offseason, as the Vols have now landed NC State catcher Cannon Peebles, Jacksonville State RHP AJ Causey, Wichita State RHP Nate Snead, Clemson 3B/1B Billy Amick, Wofford INF Ryan Galanie and Bargo.

In three games against Tennessee in mid-March, Bargo went 4-10 at the plate with four RBI, a home run, a double and a walk.

Bargo figures to compete for a corner infield or outfield spot next season for the Vols due to Peebles likely starting behind the plate. Tennessee also expects Cal Stark and Charlie Taylor to return and compete for playing time at the catcher position.

Additionally, Bargo would compete for the DH spot if he’s not starting in the field.

Bargo has two more years left until he is draft eligible and three more years overall.
