Tennessee Tennis Senior Competing in Wimbledon Championships

Rising Tennessee men’s tennis senior Johannus Monday is representing the Orange and White at the Wimbledon Championships in London, England, this week.

Monday is competing as part of the main draw in the first round of the Men’s Doubles tournament.

Monday’s first matchup with teammate Jacob Fearnley is currently estimated to begin at 6 a.m. ET on Thursday morning.

The British duo will face off against Andre Goransson (70th in ATP) of Sweden and Ben McLachlan (75th in ATP) of Japan.

Fearnley, Monday’s doubles partner, is currently a senior at TCU. Monday enters the week ranked at No. 274 in the latest ATP world doubles rankings, while Fearnley comes in at No. 432.

Monday is coming off a stellar junior campaign on Rocky Top. The Hull, England, native received 2023 SEC Player of the Year honors for his efforts and was named an ITA All-American in singles and doubles this spring.

This year marks Monday’s first appearance at Wimbledon. Monday and Fearnley earned a bid to the doubles draw by winning a doubles title at the Rothesay Open Nottingham in June.

The 2023-2024 season will be Monday’s final season of college eligibility at Tennessee.
