Tennessee football made the top five for four-star defensive lineman Amaris Jefferson Thursday night. The Vols joined Georgia, Florida, North Carolina State and Penn State in Jefferson’s top group.

Williams ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 261 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-3, 260 pound defensive lineman ranks as the nation’s 30th best defensive lineman and No. 5 player in the state of North Carolina.

Tennessee made Williams’ top group after hosting him on just one visit. The Vols hosted Williams for a visit in January but need to earn an official visit to become a major player in Williams’ recruitment.

North Carolina State and Tennessee are the only two schools in Williams’ top five that he has already visited. The blue chip recruit has also taken trips to North Carolina, East Carolina and Coastal Carolina.

Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting class currently contains 11 commits including three defensive lineman: four-star Kellen Lindstrom and three-stars Carson Gentle and Jeremias Heard.

The Vols’ 11 commit recruiting class ranks ninth nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
