Tennessee’s big men on the offensive line were in the spotlight on Tuesday as the Vols returned to the practice field to begin week two of spring camp.
The Vols took to the field early on a chilly and rainy Tuesday morning in Knoxville before wrapping up sometime just before noon. After practice was over, Tennessee had two assistant coaches and three players available to speak with the media.
Offensive line coach Glen Elarbee, in his third year at Tennessee with head coach Josh Heupel, spoke about the challenge of replacing key pieces from the 2022 season such as Darnell Wright and Jerome Carvin. Tight end coach Alec Abeln also met with the media on Monday as he spoke about his first spring camp as a position coach for the Tennessee Volunteers. Abeln was promoted internally to the position on Heupel’s staff this past February.
In addition to the two coaches, Tennessee also had offensive lineman Addison Nichols and tight ends McCallan Castles and Jacob Warren speak. Nichols spoke about primarily playing center on the offensive line while Castles detailed why he chose Tennessee out of the transfer portal.
