Tennessee baseball’s 2026 season came to a close on Sunday when the Vols fell to VCU to go 0-2 in the Chapel Hill Regional. It ended a five-year stretch of Tennessee winning a regional as Josh Elander enters a critical offseason.

The transfer portal officially opens Monday and Tennessee will almost certainly have an abundance of roster movement both in and out.

But what does Tennessee’s roster look like before the offseason portal movement? Taking a look here.

Tennessee will for sure lose two of its three starting pitchers with Evan Blanco out of eligibility and Tegan Kuhns projected to be a first round pick in the MLB Draft. Brandon Arvidson will certainly turn pro after spurning the draft last year while Bo Rhudy will likely go pro as well.

It will be very interesting to see what happens with Landon Mack after he did not pitch in the final month of the season while being “day-to-day” over that stretch. The Vols will likely have to fight to keep Cam Appenzeller while a number of pitchers will opt for the portal without Tennessee fighting to keep them.

What happens with Tennessee’s catcher situation will be interesting. Three of those four starters are catchers though Clark started at first base this past season. Grindlinger is another player that Tennessee will likely have to fight to keep.

A number of Tennessee position players could transfer. Tyler Myatt and Finley Bates did not have strong seasons after transferring in last offseason. Chris Newstrom fell completely out of the rotation and Ariel Antigua again failed to earn a starting job.
