Peyton Manning is known for his comedic personality, easy-going nature, and light-hearted attitude… Nowadays, at least.
On the field, Manning was known as a cutthroat competitor who would do anything he could within the rules to get an advantage against opposing defenses.
During a recent episode of Jon Gruden’s QB Class series with Barstool Sports, the former Super Bowl-winning coach revealed a story of getting beat by Manning and the subsequent earful that was given afterward.
“When they start all-out blitzing us, that’ll be the last time they do it,” Gruden said in the video while speaking with Memphis quarterback Seth Henigan. “I did it to Peyton Manning. Now, we called an all-out blitz against Peyton Manning. He saw it. He flashed a hand signal. Touchdown. You know what he did after he did it? He ran right by my sideline. He says, ‘Are you out of your f***ing mind?’ I swear he did that. You know that?”

Believe it or not, Manning’s side of that story has already been documented recently. During an episode of Gruden’s Vault on Barstool Sports last month, Manning recalled the same game that Gruden was talking about.
“The other (story) you always talk about is y’all ran a cover zero blitz in ’07 in Indy and I looked at you on the sideline, like, why would you blitz?!” Manning said. “How could you do that!”
Elsewhere on the Gruden’s Vault show, Gruden recalled the Colts’ 21-point comeback on his Buccaneers during the 2003 football season.
“I remember it like yesterday,” Gruden said on the show. “I still have my game plan, my sideline sheet. We scored, it’s 35-14. They returned a kickoff to our one-yard line. Bam. Then they got an outside kick, and Manning sees we’ve got an injury at corner. He goes on to throw for 386 yards! Next thing I know? Dead! I got shot by the Sheriff.”
