Tennessee Basketball Targeting Visit With Kansas Transfer Guard

Tennessee basketball is targeting Kansas guard Rakease Passmore in the transfer portal. The two sides are looking at a potential visit for early this weekend. Passmore visited Virginia late last week and is at Miami early this week as he explores his options.

A former four-star recruit, Passmore played in 23 games for the Jayhawks in his freshman season where he averaged 0.7 points and 0.6 rebounds in five minutes per game. Passmore entered the portal after playing sparingly in his lone season in Lawrence.

The 6-foot-5, 185-pound wing visited Virginia late last week and is on a visit to Miami on Tuesday before taking his visit to Tennessee. An athletic wing, Passmore is a great athletes who scores in transition and on straight drives to the basket. His shot is a work in progress and he made just two-of-nine three-point attempts in his freshman season.

Defense is a strength for the transfer guard who is athletic with a long frame but raw on the offensive end of the court.

Passmore ranks as a four-star transfer and the No. 117 player in the portal according to the 247sports rankings. On3 ranks Passmore as a four-star transfer and the No. 93 player in the portal. EvanMiya isn’t nearly as high on Passmore, ranking him as a three-star transfer and the No. 1,039 player in the portal.

A Palatka, Florida native, Passmore played his final prep season at Combine Academy in North Carolina. Tennessee recruited Passmore slightly out of high school. Both 247sports and On3 ranked Passmore as a top 50 recruit nationally in the 2025 cycle.

Tennessee basketball has landed two players in the transfer portal to this point in the cycle in Maryland point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie and Vanderbilt power forward Jaylen Carey. Rick Barnes and his staff currently have four scholarships to work with as they fill out their roster for the 2025-26 season.

The Vols still need to add two shooting guards to their roster before next season. Maryland transfer guard Rodney Rice is Tennessee’s top remaining transfer target after visiting Knoxville this past weekend. On the wing, Tennessee is putting on the full court press for five-star prep prospect Nate Ament and is hosting Lincoln Memorial transfer Elyjah Freeman on a visit Wednesday.
