Tennessee baseball is no longer undefeated, dropping its first two games of the 2025 season last week. A strong ETSU squad came to Knoxville and handed Tennessee its first loss of the season on Tuesday before the Vols dropped their series opener at Alabama.

But despite the two losses, it was still a good week for Tennessee baseball. The Vols bounced back from their consecutive losses by winning the final two games of the Alabama series to collect their second SEC series win of the season.

Rob Vaughn’s second Alabama squad is a good one and Tennessee winning the rivalry series in its first road series of the season was an impressive feat. The series victory was all the more impressive considering star infielder Gavin Kilen missed the series with a hamstring injury.

Tennessee had no shortage of contributors at the plate over the weekend. Both Hunter Ensley and Ariel Antigua hit .500 at the plate while Dalton Bargo went five-for-11 with a double, triple and home run. Like Bargo, Fischer brought the power with a pair of home runs and six walks. Eight different Tennessee players had an on-base percentage over .400 in the weekend series.

On the mound, both Tegan Kuhns and Marcus Phillips had good starts after Liam Doyle was just average on Thursday working around a rocky second inning. Out of the bullpen, lefty Dylan Loy as well as right-handed freshman Brayden Krenzel had strong outings.
