No. 6 Illinois squares off against First Four winner No. 11 Xavier at 9:45 pm EDT in Milwaukee, where the Musketeers will look to maintain the momentum they built by knocking off No. 11 Texas. To do so, they will need to contend with one of the country’s top offenses. The Fighting Illini average 83.8 PPG and can be lethal from the perimeter. Xavier’s defense will need to show up big time for the Musketeers to continue its March Madness journey. Illinois enters as 3.5-point favorites, with the over/under sitting at 159.5 points.
Can No. 11 North Carolina validate its inclusion into the First Four with a victory against No. 6 Ole Miss? That will be the Tarheels’ first big test, and they’ll need RJ Davis to continue to carry the load. Davis buried six three-pointers in UNC’s dismantling of San Diego State, tying a program record set by Caleb Love against UCLA in 2022.
