Tennessee is advancing to the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

The 2-seed Vols took down 15-seed Wofford by a score of 77-62 on Thursday night in Lexington’s Rupp Arena. Tennessee will now await the winner of 7-seed UCLA and 10-seed Utah State, who are playing in their first-round matchup late Thursday night.

Tennessee guard Chaz Lanier had a huge shooting night in his first-ever NCAA Tournament with 29 points on 11-of-22 shooting and 6-of-13 three-point shooting. Lanier was crafty in the way he found his offense on Thursday with a combination of spot-up and movement shooting.

Not to be outdone in his own way, Tennessee guard Zakai Zeigler posted a double-double in the Vols’ opening win with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Zeigler looked like the leader that Tennessee knows him to be on the court, which is a good sign for the rest of the Vols’ run.

After the game, Tennessee and Wofford both spent a few minutes speaking with the media about their reactions to the game.
