
Tennessee basketball has its NCAA Tournament draw. The Vols are the two-seed in the Midwest Region matching up against 15-seed Wofford in the first round of the tournament on Thursday.
If the Vols get past Wofford in their NCAA Tournament opener, they’ll face either seven-seed UCLA or 10-seed Utah State in the Round of 32.
The Terriers are in the NCAA Tournament after posting a 19-15 (10-8 SoCon) record. Wofford was a six-seed in the SoCon Tournament before defeating ETSU, VMI and Furman to make the Big Dance.
Tennessee is headed to Lexington for the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. If they win in the Round of 32 they’ll travel to Indianapolis for the second weekend of the tournament. Other top teams in the Midwest Region include one-seed Houston, three-seed Kentucky, four-seed Purdue, five-seed Clemson and six-seed Illinois.
The Vols would likely face one of Kentucky or Illinois in the Sweet 16 if they won their first two games. Tennessee beat Illinois in the regular season and lost to Kentucky twice.

Rick Barnes’ 10th Tennessee team enters the NCAA Tournament with a 27-7 (12-6 SEC) record having lost in the SEC Tournament Championship to Florida after beating Auburn in the semifinals.
The Vols are in the NCAA Tournament for the seventh straight season and are a two-seed for the second straight season. In those seven tournaments, Tennessee was a five-seed or higher in all seven tournaments.
Tennessee has made it to the second weekend each of the last two seasons, losing to FAU in the Sweet 16 of the 2023 NCAA Tournament and losing to Purdue in the Elite Eight of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
The SEC broke a record this season with 14 teams in the NCAA Tournament after both Texas and Oklahoma made the field as bubble teams.
