With No. 5 Tennessee’s buzzer-beating win over No. 6 Alabama on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville, the No. 1 Auburn Tigers are officially the 2024-2025 SEC Regular Season Champions.

The Tigers clinched a share of the SEC championship with a win over Kentucky in the early slate on Saturday but owned full possession of the crown by nightfall after the Vols’ victory.

The thriller in Thompson Boling went down to the wire with Tennessee guard Jahmai Mashack knocking down a 35-foot game-winner as time expired.

With the Tigers heading home from the game in Lexington on Saturday evening, Auburn’s players huddled around a phone to watch the end of the game that would determine their fate.

As soon as Mashack’s shot went in, Auburn began celebrating with a bit of Rocky Top.

“Shoutout, Mashack,” one Tiger triumphantly shouted.

Former Tennessee coach and current Auburn coach Bruce Pearl also posted a shoutout to the Vols after Tennessee’s win.

With the win over Alabama on Saturday afternoon, Tennessee now sits alongside Auburn as one of the four one-seed projections for the NCAA tournament from ESPN’s Joe Lunardi with just two more regular season games to go. Tennessee currently sits at No. 4 in the SEC standings behind Auburn, Florida, and Alabama.

No. 5 Tennessee (24-5) will return to the court on Wednesday night for a road matchup at Ole Miss at 9:00 p.m. ET.
