Tennessee posts a Top 5 SEC ranking and a Top 10 national ranking in On3 Sports’ latest class of 2026 update this week.
The Vols have eight commits in the class, which is just a fraction above the average of 7.3 commits per team for programs in the Top 10 of On3’s national rankings.
Among those eight players, On3 has Tennessee with one five-star prospect, two four-star prospects, and five three-star prospects.
Tennessee’s 90.94 class rating puts the Vols at No. 5 in the SEC behind LSU, Texas A&M, Auburn, and Texas. The Vols are also sitting at No. 9 overall behind Oregon, Southern Cal, LSU, Texas A&M, Auburn, Penn State, Ohio State, and Texas.

The Vols’ class received a small boost this week with a commitment from three-star EDGE rusher CJ Edwards on Tuesday. The New Jersey prospect made for Tennessee’s third defensive prospect in the class.
Tennessee may have also taken a big step back with the latest update, though. Quarterback commit Faizon Brandon has widely been looked at as one of the best prospects in the class and has held a five-star ranking across all recruiting platforms since he started on the recruiting trail. On3’s latest update dropped Brandon to a four-star prospect and the No. 34 overall player in the class.
247Sports has Brandon as the No. 1 player in the class while Rivals has the Tennessee commit as the No. 2 overall prospect, thus keeping him as a five-star prospect according to the widespread industry rankings.
Five-star or not, Brandon still sits atop Tennessee’s current eight-man recruiting class as the cornerstone piece. Behind the Vols’ quarterback commit is four-star wide receiver Tyreek King, four-star tight end Carson Sneed, three-star offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda, three-star defensive lineman Tyson Bacon, three-star wide receiver Tyran Evans, three-star linebacker Braylon Outlaw, and three-star EDGE rusher CJ Edwards.
