Tennessee shooting guard Jordan Gainey is a game-time decision for the Vols’ matchup against LSU with flu-like symptoms according to the SEC Availability Report. Gainey was not on the availability report Monday night but was added to the game day report after coming down with the illness.
UPDATE at 8:45 p.m. ET: Tennessee G Jordan Gainey is AVAILABLE for Tuesday night’s contest
Felix Okpara, who Tennessee listed as probable with a left knee injury on the Monday night report, is available and will play for the Vols against LSU.
Gainey is the Vols’ sixth man and is averaging 10.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and two assists per game this season. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard was questionable for Tennessee’s game at Auburn due to illness but gave it a go before scoring eight points on three-of-10 shooting from the field.
The senior guard was a full participant in Tennessee’s Monday practice before the team left for Baton Rouge. He is also coming off one of his better games of the season at Texas A&M. Gainey broke out of his shooting slump from three-point range while knocking down a pair of triples in the game’s final minutes.

Gainey is not only one of Tennessee’s best scorers but typically handles point guard duties when Zakai Zeigler is not on the court. If Gainey is unable to play a number of Vols will see an increase of minutes but freshman combo guard Bishop Boswell has the greatest opportunity.
Tennessee has won five of its last six games and is looking to remain in a hunt for a one-seed in the NCAA Tournament with a win. LSU is currently 15th in the SEC standings but has won two of its last three games.
The Vols are currently 10.5-point favorites over LSU according to the DraftKings Sportsbook. The over/under is set at 139.5. KenPom predicts Tennessee to earn a 72-61 victory.
