No. 5 Tennessee knocked off LSU by a score of 65-59 on Tuesday night in Baton Rouge. The Vols took a three-point lead into halftime and outscored the Tigers by three more in the second half to find the six-point win.
While Tennessee’s offense wasn’t its sharpest on Tuesday night, the Vols still maintained control of the game for a near wire-to-wire win. Despite a few runs from the Tigers here and there, Tennessee’s defense had LSU’s offense searching for answers for a good portion of the night.
Tennessee’s trio of Zakai Zeigler (17), Felix Okpara (15), and Chaz Lanier (14) combined for 71% of the Vols’ scoring. Lanier also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds as Tennessee dominated the glass 44 to 28.
After the game, RTI’s Ryan Schumpert and Ric Butler broke down their thoughts on the win and what comes next for Tennessee with a star-studded matchup against Alabama coming up this Saturday afternoon in Knoxville.
