Four-star linebacker Rodney Colton Jr. is taking an official visit to Tennessee this summer, according to On3 Sports’ Keegan Pope over the weekend.
The former South Carolina commit will visit Tennessee on Friday, Jun. 13, as part of a six-team summer tour. Tennessee will be the fifth leg of the stretch as Colton visits SMU, UCLA, Penn State, Missouri, Tennessee, and Colorado between May 2 and June 20.
The Newnan, GA, native originally committed to Shane Beamer’s South Carolina program in April 2024 but stayed active on the recruiting trail through the fall. In late January, Colton decommitted from the Gamecocks and reopened his recruitment.
Just four days after decommitting, Colton visited Tennessee for a Junior Day event on Jan. 25.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect is currently ranked as the No. 167 player in the 2026 class, the No. 11 linebacker in the nation, and the No. 23 player from the state of Georgia by 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings.
While Colton does still have several stops to take this summer, Tennessee does appear to be a contender for his recruitment. The Vols have a leading 19.9% chance according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine while 247’s Tom Loy did submit a prediction for Colton to flip to Tennessee last October. Colton took three visits to Knoxville last season for the Florida and Alabama games in October and the Kentucky game in November.
Tennessee has one linebacker commit in the 2026 class with three-star Braylon Outlaw but the Vols did well at the position in 2025. Tennessee signed four talented linebackers in the 2025 cycle with four-star Christian Gass, four-star Jadon Perlotte, four-star Jaedon Harmon, and three-star Brenden Anes.
