No. 15 Tennessee earned a big conference victory on Thursday night with an 88-80 win over No. 18 Alabama in Knoxville.
The Lady Vols and the Crimson Tide traded runs and the lead throughout the first half but it was all Tennessee in the final 20 minutes. Tennessee led by five points coming out of the halftime break and held onto the lead through the final whistle, staving off an Alabama comeback attempt in the final stretch of the game.
Tennessee guard Jewel Spear led the Lady Vols with 20 points on 66% shooting while Zee Spearman pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Tennessee’s Talaysia Cooper led her team with four assists in the game.
The Lady Vols’ win on Thursday moves Tennessee to 20-6 on the season with just three games remaining on the schedule.
