Tennessee basketball had its midweek open date this week, having a full week off between its win over Vanderbilt last Saturday and ahead of its top 10 matchup at Texas A&M this Saturday.
The Vols are 21-5 (8-5 SEC) ahead of the home stretch of the regular season. Tennessee has five more regular season games remaining before they head to Nashville for the SEC Tournament and then compete in the NCAA Tournament.
With the majority of Tennessee’s games this season in the rearview mirror, there’s a handful of trends this season that indicate the results of Volunteer games.
Some of these trends are a bit of a chicken or the egg situation. For instance, Tennessee has been very good this season when Zakai Zeigler dishes out more assists than he attempts three-pointers. But it’s very possible that Tennessee loses games when Zeigler attempts a lot of three-pointers because other players aren’t making shots (leading to fewer assists), the offense isn’t flowing well and Zeigler has to take late shot clock triples.
Others are relatively simple. Like when Chaz Lanier, Tennessee’s leading scorer, totals a lot of points then Tennessee is good. That isn’t exactly rocket science. Nonetheless, the results are relatively interesting and hopefully you will find them interesting.
A look at Tennessee individual and team statistics that indicate the results of Vol basketball games this season.
