After a below-standard performance against Vanderbilt had Tennessee trailing by 13 points at halftime, the Volunteers exploded out of the gates in the second half to outscore the Commodores by 18 points.
Tennessee’s big second-half comeback helped the Vols earn the 81-76 victory over their in-state rival on Saturday afternoon in the Food City Center.
Tennessee guard Zakai Zeigler was the difference-maker in this game with all 22 of his game-high point total coming in the second half of play. Tennessee’s Chaz Lanier also put up 21 points of his own with only six of those coming from behind the three-point line.
After the game, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes and Vanderbilt head coach Mark Byington met with the media to discuss their thoughts on the game. Tennessee’s Chaz Lanier and Zakai Zeigler followed both coaches.
