Expectations Low For 2025 Hofstra Baseball Team

The Coastal Athletic Conference coaches picked Hofstra to finish ninth in the 12-team conference this season. Hofstra posted a 24-33 (13-14 CAA) record a season ago.

The Pride faced Virginia in a three-game series last season and it was their only matchups against a power five opponent. Virginia swept Hofstra in Charlottesville, scoring 10-plus runs in all three games and winning by a total of 42-20.

Hofstra infielder Dylan Palmer was the Pride’s only Preseason All-CAA selection this season after he hit .386 with nine extra-base hits and 31 RBIs a season ago.

Tennessee Begins Its Title Defense

The Vols are coming off their first ever National Championship and one of the best seasons in SEC history. Tennessee’s 2024 team won 60 games, including the SEC Regular-Season Championship and SEC Tournament Championship on the way to the National Championship.

Still, expectations are high for the 2025 Vols. Tennessee is a consensus top five team entering the 2025 season.

Tennessee returns a handful of key players including Hunter Ensley and Dean Curley at the plate as well as Nate Snead and Dylan Loy on the mound.

Combine the returning proven Vols with young players who have flashed potential and one of the nation’s top ranked recruiting and transfer classes and Tennessee has no shortage of talent.

Most notably, Tennessee landed Ole Miss stars Liam Doyle and Andrew Fischer as well as Louisville infielder Gavin Kilen in the portal. Talented freshmen Jay Abernathy, Tegan Kuhns and Levi Clark are looking to push for roles as well.

Quick Prediction

Tennessee has swept 15 of 18 non conference series at Lindsey Nelson Stadium since 2019 and they haven’t dropped a game in a home non conference series since 2021.

Vols keep their home non conference success going this weekend.
