NBA All-Star Game Weekend schedule, preview
The All-Star festivities get underway Friday night with the Rising Stars competition. This year, it features four squads of NBA rookie, sophomore and G League standouts competing for the fourth berth in Sunday’s All-Star Game tournament.
Play is slated to begin at 9 p.m. ET, on TNT.
All-Star Saturday Night, on the other hand, remains much the same with the player skills challenge, 3-point-shooting contest and slam dunk competition set for 8 p.m., on TNT and truTV.
On Sunday, we get the 74th NBA All-Star Game itself at 8 p.m., on TNT and truTV.
As aforementioned, the ASG has undergone another format change and now consists of a four-team, three-game mini-tournament.
TNT NBA analysts Charles Barkley (Global Stars), Shaquille O’Neal (OGs) and Kenny Smith (Young Stars) on Feb. 6 conducted a draft of the 24 All-Star starters and reserves, who were selected via fan, fellow player and media voting.
The three 8-man All-Star squads will then compete, along with the Rising Stars bracket winner (Team Candace Parker), for the All-Star Game championship.
Team Shaq faces Team Candace in the first semifinal, followed by Team Chuck vs. Team Kenny. The winners play for the championship, and the game winners will be the first team to reach or surpass 40 points.
