Tennessee Forward Igor Milicic Out Against Florida, Vols Down Two Starters

Igor Milicic Jr. (7) shoots a free-throw during a game against Kentucky at Food City Center. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025.

Tennessee forward Igor Milicic is out for the Vols’ matchup against Florida due to illness according to a Tennessee spokesperson.

Milicic missed the Vols’ Friday practice due to the illness and Tennessee listed him as probable on its Friday night injury report. Tennessee removed Milicic from the Saturday morning report indicating he was good to go against the Gators.

But Milicic did not warm up with the team as his symptoms worsened in the two hours leading up to the game.

Not having Milicic is a major loss for a Tennessee team crippled by injuries. With Zakai Zeigler also not able to go against Florida, the Vols are down to just seven scholarship players and will be without a pair of their top starters.

Milicic missed Tennessee’s Friday practice with an illness but the Vols still listed him as probable on their initial injury report. The 6-foot-10 forward is averaging 10.4 points and a team-best 8.1 rebounds to go with 2.1 assists per game this season.

Zeigler is out with a right knee injury that he suffered in the first half of the Vols’ loss against Kentucky on Tuesday night.

With Zeigler and Milicic out, the Vols are down their second and fourth leading scorer, top rebounder and its top two assists guys. Darlinstone Dubar will see an increased role with Milicic out while Jordan Gainey and Bishop Boswell will take up Zeigler’s point guard duties.

Tipoff between Tennessee and Florida is at noon ET on Saturday. Tom Hart and Dane Bradshaw are on the call for ESPN.
